It might only have been a Class 3 7f handicap, but victory in it for Cornwallville meant the world to first-season trainer David Loughnane, winning the most important prize of his short career in front on the Channel 4 cameras.

Loughnane, whose licence to train came through at the end of January, is operating out of the yard David O'Meara made so successful and he is making a fine fist of matching the former inmate's results.

The 29-year-old, whose Muntadab was sixth in the race, was full of praise for Cornwallville's rider Adam Kirby, describing him as one of the most underrated jockeys on the circuit, while the William Hill Ayr Gold Cup could be the 10-1 winner's chief aim.
