When Gordon Lord Byronwon the Minstrel Stakes a year ago, it was on the later disqualification of the Hugo Palmer-trained Home Of The Brave on a technicality.

The veteran sprinting great did not need any intervention this time as he recorded his 15th success in this year's Friarstown Stud-sponsored contest under Billy Lee, run as a Group 2 for the first time.

Despite being carried consistently to his left by the front-running Toscanini from over a furlong out the eight-year-old gradually got on top and had half a length in hand over old rival Sovereign Debt, who had been a promoted second to him in the race last year.
