Loose Chips gives Longsdon plenty to smile about in Pete The Feat's race

It was not quite the fairytale of 14-year-old Pete The Feat winning the 3m veterans' chase named in his honour but trainer Charlie Longsdon enjoyed the next best result as popular stablemate Loose Chips obliged for the stable.

Longsdon warned that Loose Chips would be the fitter of the pair with a run under his belt and so it proved, the 12-year-old coming home 11 lengths clear of runner-up Rock Gone, with Pete The Feat back in seventh.

“Pete The Feat just got a bit tired but will improve a ton,” said Longsdon. “Loose Chips had the benefit of a run and when he comes around here he lights up. They’re both real characters, hence the reason why they’re both still running at 12 and 14. All roads lead to the final of this series now.”
