After a rather frustrating spell marooned on 499 successes, Charlie Longsdon finally posted a landmark 500th career winner when Aunty Ann responded in the gamest style to amateur rider Jordan Nailor’s driving to win the 2m7f handicap chase.

A relieved Longsdon said: “It’s quite a weight off my shoulders as I was beginning to wonder when we'd get there as it’s been a bit of a wait. I hoped we could do it with Hammersly Lake in the big hurdle race in America but it wasn't to be.

“However, we've finally done it and I'd like to think it’s not a bad score for 11 years with a trainer’s licence. I have to admit the one disappointment is not yet bagging a winner at the Cheltenham Festival. Hopefully that will come.”
