Long haul pays off for Devon-based Pickard as Getaround shows them the way home

What is a seven-hour journey when you land the biggest win of your short career? That was how Devon-based Ella Pickard felt after Getaround, her first runner at Newcastle, made all in the £15,000 novice hurdle under Bryan Carver.

"You've got to go where the races are for the horses," said the trainer, who has had a licence for 18 months.

"It's all about confidence with young horses and he won't be a novice after this month so it was important to get the experience. We always thought he wanted better ground. Bryan gave him a really good ride today."
