Lights out for Fight's Down Royal rivals as Bolger strengthens Foxhunters hand
It was a case of business as usual at Down Royal as Stand Up And Fight stole the show in the Toals Bookmakers Hunters Chase while, off the track, the outgoing management team handed over the keys to their Merrion Property Group successors.
A classy novice hurdler a couple of seasons back, things didn’t quite go to plan for the Enda Bolger-trained Stand Up And Fight last term but, after making a winning return in a point-to-point this season, the JP McManus-owned youngster confirmed the engine underneath his bonnet still exists with a flawless display under Derek O’Connor.
Setting off to make all, O’Connor seldom seemed concerned about the rivals in behind, with Stand Up And Fight appearing to do a half-speed out in front before recording a comfortable success and landing some tidy wagers in the process.
