Lethal Promise leaves rivals for dead with front-running display

A return to front-running tactics worked a treat for the Willie McCreery-trained Lethal Promise, whose success in the €50,000 Listed Blenheim Stakes at Fairyhouse on Monday sparked fantastic celebrations in the winner's enclosure from the successful owners, the Irish National Stud Breeding & Racing Club.

McCreery, whose filly was ridden by Billy Lee, said: "I think we were just riding her wrong the last two times – we were trying to hold her up and make her get home and I think we cheesed her off a little bit.

“She got six furlongs very well today and was going away from them at the line. It gives us a lot of hope for next year as you don’t want an out-and-out five-furlong filly. That’ll be it for the year with her now.”
