Lerena ticks one off the list on good afternoon for overseas visitors

South African jockey Gavin Lerena may have forgotten to bring the Cape Town weather to a drab Rowley Mile but ticked one item off his bucket list when riding his first winner at the track.

Lerena, who rode a double at the Shergar Cup meeting at Ascot last year, had kicked off his three-month British stint only two days previously at Bath.

Lerena was in the same colours as Arch Villian, one of his Ascot brace, for Amanda Perrett aboard Zzoro in the 1m2f handicap and got the better of previous winner Interconnection after a protracted duel.
