Leamington Novices' Hurdle next for two-time winner Midnight River

Midnight River built on the promise of his second at Cheltenham last time to win the 2m4½f novice hurdle by a length and a quarter.

The five-year-old, who was second to Grade 2 winner Does He Know last month, stayed on well to beat Gold Miner and could be aimed at the Grade 2 Leamington Novices' Hurdle at Warwick in January.

"He made a bit of a mistake at the last but he stayed well," winning jockey Harry Skelton told Racing TV. "He was giving weight away on testing ground and I didn't want to be in front for too long.
