Leading jockey Watson signs off with a win at hometown track

Jason Watson signed off with a win to end the season as Brighton's leading jockey, but fell just short of breaking the course record.

The 18-year-old was two wins away from equalling the tally of Richard Quinn, who rode 23 winners in 1999, with Ryan Moore among those closest to reaching it in recent years with 17.

"I grew up around here and used to ride out horses around the track," said Watson, "I know the ins and outs of the surface. It's an unusual track and it pays to be well educated with it."
