Laws Of Spin brings plan to fruition for Mullins
Big-race winners at the Curragh are nothing new for champion jumps trainer Willie Mullins and Laws Of Spin landed the Tote Ireland Irish Cesarewitch on Sunday to give him back-to-back successes in the big Flat handicap following Digeanta’s victory a year ago.
A 7-1 shot, Laws Of Spin was completing a hat-trick and scored by one and a quarter lengths under Chris Hayes for the Hourihane/O'Brien partnership, who leased the three-year-old from Ballylinch Stud. The owners had previously enjoyed success with the Mullins-trained pair Levanto and Laviniad, whom they also leased from the same source.
Patrick Mullins, representing his father, who last month at the same course had enjoyed his first Classic success when Wicklow Brave won the Irish St Leger, said: "Laws Of Spin is a tough horse. He hadn't run over the trip before but we were quite confident he would stay the two miles.
