Lady Bowthorpe follows Enable's lead to leave Jarvis on an emotional high

For the second day in succession an inspired performance from a female on the track at Ascot brought a tear to the eye of connections after Lady Bowthorpe followed Enable's lead with a wide-margin success in the Group 3 Betfred Valiant Fillies' Stakes.

Victory gave winning trainer William Jarvis, one of Newmarket's longest-serving trainers, his first success at Group level since Gravitation landed the Lillie Langtry Stakes at Glorious Goodwood in 2008 and there was no mistaking what the win meant.

"Things haven't been going as well as we'd like but I've been training for 36 years and I'm quite a resilient fellow," said Jarvis. "We've had plenty of Listed winners and won decent handicaps but it's been a long time.
