Kinks makes trip north from Berkshire pay off in style for trainer Channon

It’s early days but Kinks stamped himself one of the smartest juveniles to be unleashed so far this season as he made every yard to readily take the honours in the 5f novice stakes.

Smartly away from the stalls, the two-year-old son of Sixties Icon was soon in control and had only to be shaken up in the closing stages of the race by Charles Bishop to comfortably see off Brocklesby runner-up Broken Spear by two and a quarter lengths.

Bishop reckoned that Mick Channon's youngster could be anything as he had only to to give him a couple of slaps about a furlong from home as his mount was beginning to look around, having been in isolation from the outset.
