King Carney enters Derby picture for Fellowes after Silver Tankard success
Charlie Fellowes' best season got even better as King Carney stamped himself a possible Investec Derby contender with a gutsy Listed success in testing conditions at Pontefract.
The 145,000gns breeze-up buy made all in the ebfstallions.com Silver Tankard Stakes and held on well to score by three-quarters of a length under Danny Tudhope in the colours of owner Susan Roy.
“He's a lovely horse and that was a really nice win," said the trainer after landing the latest winner of his most prolific season with a licence. "To make all in ground like that isn't easy. He had to stick to his task at the end.
