Donald McCain made it 50 for the season with the success of his only runner at the meeting Kilronan Castle in the 2m4f handicap chase a day after a treble at Bangor.

The well-backed favourite was a spare ride for Adrian Heskin and he stretched his rivals from the start of the long home straight to hold off the only challenger Finnegan's Garden.

McCain, whose regular seasonal 100s came to an end with the loss of the Paul and Claire Rooney horses, has hit his 50 more than a month ahead of last season when he totalled 80 but at a much healthier strike-rate and positivity for punters with a level-stake profit of nearly 50 points.
