Kilmah knocked the eye out in the preliminaries and the muscular daughter of Sepoy got the better of a bruising battle with Promising to run out a gutsy winner of the Group 3 Prestige Stakes.

It was the sixth run of the campaign for the Mark Johnston-trained juvenile and just nine days after she disappointed in the Group 2 Lowther Stakes at York.

“I’m so delighted that I ran her as it would have been easy to have found an excuse not to,” said Johnston, winning the race for the first time. “She disappointed terribly at York and we were very disappointed but she seemed perfectly well and I’m not one for looking for excuses if there isn’t one there.
