'Brian was particularly surprised she was that price' - Shoemark on 125-1 winner
Tuesday: Redcar
Kieran Shoemark continues to enjoy a landmark season by landing a double, including shock 125-1 shot Magnificence, who won the 7f handicap by two lengths.
In spite of having yet to taste victory and being drawn widest of all the runners in stall 16, her long odds were a surprise to her trainer Brian O’Rourke.
“Brian was particularly surprised that she was that price. I was concerned about the draw,” Shoemark told Racing TV.
“Brian wanted me to take my time to give her the best chance. She took me through very nicely and I hit the front with plenty of time and she quickened nicely.”

The rider earlier steered 11-10 favourite Dream Show to a length success in the 7f novice for long-time supporter Charlie Hills.
The jockey added: “He was unlucky last time when he got pipped on the post. He’s still very raw. He was unruly in the paddock before the race and I had a job getting him down to the start.”
On this year's achievements, which include a maiden Group 1 on Lady Bowthorpe and a personal best for winners in a calendar year, Shoemark said: “I’m delighted numerically and for the quality of horses I’ve ridden this year.
“To ride my first Group 1 winner has been my target for a long-time and to be able to achieve that is fantastic.”
Cherchi lands feature
Leading apprentice jockey Stefano Cherchi comfortably landed the feature 1m2f handicap by three lengths after making all on the Saeed bin Suroor-trained Dubai Souq.
