In a thrilling finish to the Group 3 Tattersalls Sovereign Stakes at Salisbury, Kick On returned to winning ways having finished down the field in the Prix du Jockey Club and Hampton Court Stakes on his most recent starts.

Ridden by title-chasing Oisin Murphy, the Qatar Racing-owned colt was positioned on the outside behind Marie's Diamond and narrowly denied the late surge of 2018 Queen Anne hero Accidental Agent, another returning to top form.

Murphy, who recorded a double on the day following Clem A's success in the mile handicap, told Racing TV: "John [Gosden] has spent time freshening him up and he was in really good order today.
