Anyone growing tired of the trainers' championship dust-up between Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott and the subplot surrounding Michael O'Leary's decision to remove 60 horses from Mullins following a spat over fees might as well look away now.
These are intriguing strands that will colour much of what happens on the racecourse over the next few months. Resistance is futile, although yesterday's thrilling Lexus Chase triumph for Outlander was at least fused with Jack Kennedy riding his first Grade 1 winner at the tender age of 17.
The precocious Dingle native had led the jockeys' championship until injury intervened twice in the autumn. His title quest duly went up in smoke for this term, although his bid to usurp perennial champion Ruby Walsh is likely to be only delayed.
