Will Kennedy produced one of the rides of the season to defy the forces of gravity and secure victory aboard Dear Sire.

The jockey looked set to be deposited to the ground as he was pitched sideways out of the saddle when the 4-1 chance, a narrow leader at the time, jinked badly at the final flight in the maiden hurdle.

But Kennedy showed great determination to keep the partnership intact, hanging on to the reins and scrambling back into the plate.
