Kevin Ryan should have been celebrating his fifth juvenile victory of the year at Yarmouth the previous day, but it duly arrived 24 hours later courtesy of Savalas in the 5f novice stakes.

The trainer, who will have to wait for the BHA inquiry to see if Fyre Cay is awarded the controversial Yarmouth contest having been found to have been beaten by a three-year-old, was consoled by the local success for long-standing owner Angie Bailey, who looks to have another decent film-star inspired horse on her hands.

Savalas, who finished fifth behind exciting juvenile Santry on debut at York, picked up smartly for Tom Eaves to get off the mark at the third attempt.
