Julia Brooke celebrates first Flat winner as Piazon lands sprint handicap

It was a memorable day for connections of Piazon, who stayed on gamely under Nathan Evans to take the 5f handicap.

As a winner of six of his 13 starts at Southwell, it was no surprise to see the seven-year-old get off the mark at the fifth time of asking for trainer Julia Brooke.

"He was excellent," said the North Yorkshire trainer. "We bought him from Newmarket to be a Southwell specialist but there haven’t been enough meetings since to get him started.
