It was exactly a year ago that Donald McCain bought former Irish point-to-pointer Henry's Joy for £25,000 at Ascot sales.

Although the five-year-old hadn't run a bad race and had been placed a couple of times, until now he hadn't won a race.

However, he chose the right contest to break his duck as he recouped a large proportion of his purchase price by landing the day's richest race, the £30,000 Betfred 'Supports Jack Berry House' Hurdle Series Final.
