Joseph O'Brien soars above usual suspects with brilliant 35-1 Fairyhouse treble
It is not often Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins are upstaged at this Fairyhouse fixture, but Joseph O'Brien achieved the feat with a 35-1 treble.
Elliott and Mullins had won 13 of the 15 Grade 1s on this card since 2014, but O'Brien got in on the act with the front-running Fakir D'Oudairies in the Drinmore. Cerberus put the icing on the cake in the opening Grade 3 juvenile hurdle, while the cherry on top was provided by Eric Bloodaxe in the concluding bumper.
Punters could not separate the pair of O'Brien runners in the opener with Cerberus and A Wave Of The Sea sent off 5-4 joint-favourites and it was the previous course winner who led home a 1-2 for the stable.
