Richard Johnson helped himself to a double on his first visit to Newcastle for more than five years, a haul which took him on to 99 winners for the season.

His afternoon got off to a flyer when Jassas won the opening 2m½f novice hurdle despite being kicked at the start.

The champion jockey was always travelling well on the strapping type, trained by James Ewart, and he looks the right size to jump fences one day.
