Trainer Eve Johnson Houghton notched a landmark 50 winners for the first time this season following victories for Caiya in the 7f fillies’ novice contest and the well-backed Vixen, who took the 7f handicap.

After last term’s previous best score of 41 successes, the Blewbury-based trainer was hopeful of getting her maiden half-century on the board as her team have been in very good form over the summer and autumn.

Newcomer Caiya was nibbled at from 9-1 down to 7-1 in the morning and then drifted out to 12-1 on course, but with a well-timed run under Charles Bishop she hit the front close home and got the better of Teenage Gal.
