John Ryan waxes lyrical over 'queen' Kitty Galore after Clonmel cruise
Some people said John Ryan would be well advised to enjoy his golden period while it lasted, but Ryan has made a habit out of proving his doubters wrong and did so again at Clonmel on Thursday when Kitty Galore made all to win the mares' chase.
It does not take much for Ryan to dream but Kitty Galore provided connections with reason to believe they can come true, with the Listed mares' chase back at the track next month the new target.
“We’re not going to lie down for them anyway,” Ryan said after the winner. “This mare is a queen. She's so quick in the air. Anywhere between two and two and a half miles, she’s going to be a force to be reckoned with.”
He added: “We’ve been proving people wrong all of our lives. My great grandfather won an Irish Derby in 1911 and it’s bred into us. He proved them wrong and so will I.
“I have a bunch of nice horses and she’s something to look forward to. She'll go back to Clonmel next month with a huge chance. It will take a real proper one to beat her.”
