Waiting Patiently looks like paying off. The chaser of that name, unraced for nine months, stamped himself the most exciting of prospects on his return.

The six-year-old, unbeaten in three race over fences last season, reappeared in the Colin Parker Memorial Intermediate Chase, a race Many Clouds used as a stepping-stone to the top in 2014.

He appeared to revel in the soft ground, jumped and travelled well for Brian Hughes, and came home a ready two-and-a-half-length winner.
