Jardine looking forward to sunnier climates after Jabbaar wins in the rain

Standing in the wet and windswept winners' enclosure after Jabbaar and Phillip Makin had won the 1m4f handicap, trainer Iain Jardine was looking forward to his forthcoming visit to Melbourne where he will apply the finishing touches to Betfred Ebor winner Nakeeta ahead of his Melbourne Cup bid.

"I am going out there on Friday and am really looking forward to it, at least the weather will be better than this. The horse is already out there, he has been there a while and has settled in well," he said.

This race wasn't as prestigious as that historic event, but Jardine was surrounded by a delighted bunch of owners from the Let's Be Lucky Racing 12 syndicate and he said: "Jabbaar likes this soft ground and the step up in trip suited him. I fancied him today."
