Jamie Snowden hits 40 as progressive Soldier Of Destiny records easy win
Thursday: Ffos Las
Jamie Snowden hit 40 winners for only the second time in his training career as a brilliant start to the month continued with victory for Soldier Of Destiny in the 2m3½f novice handicap chase.
The six-year-old jumped superbly on only his second chasing start as he powered clear of Longshanks up the straight to justify 5-2 favouritism.
For his trainer, the success was a third winner in February from only five runners and he hopes there will be more to come from this lightly raced winner.
Snowden said: "That's 40 now for the season which is great, lots of hard work has gone into it so it's nice for the team to be rewarded.
"It was his first run in a handicap, off a high enough mark in fairness for what he's achieved, but he's stepped forward. Jumping is the name of the game and he's pinged them from fence to fence and has stayed that trip quite nicely.
"We'll potter away gently and work our way forwards, he'll definitely want further in time."
Winning return
Anthony Honeyball produced a remarkable training performance to get Pure Vision to strike on his first start in 447 days in the 2m5f hunter chase.
The 11-year-old capitalised on a final-fence mistake by Jaunty Flyer, also looking to defy a major layoff, to strike by half a length.
"I'm quite pleased," Honeyball said. "He was a bit ring-rusty but he warmed to it. He's got a big jump in him so we might look to get him qualified for the Aintree Foxhunters', I think he'd have a squeak in that."
