Jaganory is the only horse that Caerwent trainer Chris Mason has in active service right now, but he is doing the team proud as his three-quarter length defeat of Staffa in the 5f handicap followed a nose win over slightly further in June.

Mason, a successful breeder for many years and a trainer since 2011, started the season with four horses in training, but only two have made it to the racecourse so far.

In the circumstances, his three wins from only 11 runs make for impressive reading, and with a two-year-old to come, and half a dozen yearlings to look forward to next year, the future is nowhere near as grim as it might be.
