Dean Ivory knew he was taking a chance with Librisa Breeze on the going but a couple of sleep-interrupted nights were worth enduring after his decision to run earned him the richest win of his career.

Librisa Breeze had never raced over a trip below a mile and his best performances had come on the all-weather or soft going, as it was when he was second in the Royal Hunt Cup the previous month.

But after being held up at the back of the field for the first five furlongs of the 7f Gigaset International Handicap, the Tony Bloom-owned grey sauntered up the middle of the course from two furlongs out under Robert Winston and soon put the £150,000 race to bed.
