'It's jockey error' - Murphy blames himself for Kameko defeat at Goodwood
Oisin Murphy blamed himself for not winning the Qatar Sussex Stakes on Kameko after getting trapped on the rail.
The Qipco 2,000 Guineas winner appeared poised behind leader Circus Maximus but as Murphy looked to angle him out his path was blocked first by Wichita and then the fast-finishing Siskin.
The champion jockey said: “He jumped very smart and I wanted to take a lead. I thought Circus Maximus would make the running, but up the straight I couldn't find any room and I felt the best horse didn't win on the day. Unfortunately these things happen sometimes and it's jockey error.
