'It's a lot of winners' - Boughey's double edges him closer to century
Sunday: Southwell
George Boughey edged closer to a century of winners for the year with a double and he has high hopes for Pastiche, who was successful in the 7f fillies' maiden.
Luckless on her Kempton debut, things were straightforward on this occasion, with the two-year-old coming comfortably clear from a prominent position under Kevin Stott.
Boughey said: "She was entered and ready to run on the first day of the Craven meeting but had a small setback. We gave her the time because we thought she was nice.
"It's nice for [owners] Highclere to be rewarded with another good filly. She was working with a few of our classier performers this year and it's no surprise to see her perform like that today."
Boughey's double was completed by Lumacho, who justified favouritism in the 5f handicap for a third win from her last four starts.
The yard is just four winners away from 100 for the year and Boughey was quick to thank the hard work of all his staff.
"It's been an amazing year," he added. "I think quietly it was our aim numbers-wise to have 100. Everyone's worked incredibly hard, the numbers help you find the better horses and we're edging closer.
"It's something I never really thought we'd do, it's a lot of winners. There are a lot of people working very hard in the yard and we have support from the owners we never thought we'd have."
Double delight
Tim Easterby also recorded a double on the card with the 40-1 success of Revoquable in the mile handicap and 9-1 shot Golden Apollo in the 6f handicap.
