'It's a dream come true' - young jockey Tyrese Cameron rides his first winner
Monday: Kempton
Tyrese Cameron was a new name in the winner's enclosure after landing his first success on Always Fearless.
The young jockey produced a gutsy, front-running performance worthy of the horse's name in division two of the mile handicap.
Cameron had not ridden in a race before September and he described the win as "a dream come true".
Speaking to Racing TV, he said: "It’s only my fourth ride in public. It’s amazing. I was on the course at the British Racing School this time last year. I did 12 weeks there and went straight to Mr [Richard] Hannon’s and everything’s gone up from there.”
Cool running
Cool Vixen produced a welcome victory for Robyn Brisland, getting off the mark for the trainer at her seventh attempt in division one of the mile handicap under David Probert.
Brisland said: “She was a good horse out in Ireland. We like taking horses from Ireland because they suit our style of training. A horse that has got proven ability over there always seems to do well here. We’re delighted the filly has got her head in front.”
Doyle treble
On a soggy afternoon the Listed Floodlit Stakes provided the card's feature and it was dominated by Godolphin, with the James Doyle-ridden Warren Point getting up to deny stablemate Wild Crusade.
It completed a treble for Keeneland-bound Doyle after wins on 1.45 million guineas debutante Whispering Romance and the George Boughey-trained Phantasy Mac.
