Owners Richard and Shirl Smith were rewarded for their years of patience when Avoir De Soins landed the 2m4f handicap chase.

The six-year-old had failed to get his nose in front in seven starts for Anthony Honeyball and fell on his most recent outing at Plumpton.

However, that was forgotten as Avoir De Soins stayed on gamely under Rex Dingle to hold off Colonel Keating and win by just over a length.
