Irish Oaks an option for Worth Waiting after she loses maiden tag

From winning a median auction maiden at Redcar to running in the Group 1 Darley Irish Oaks at the Curragh. That is the ambitious journey that could be undertaken by Worth Waiting, who got off the mark when landing odds of 1-2 in the 1m2f maiden.

She wasn’t impressive in beating the 78-rated Roddy by only a length and a half, but according to David Lanigan, who trains her for Saif Ali, she is a filly who does no more than is necessary.

He said: “Even at home she’ll go up to her lead horse but she won’t go clear.
