Irish filly runs a 'blinder' to reach a place in top Italian prize

Tony Martin was delighted to see Laganore grab third place on her step up to Group 1 company in the Premio Lydia Tesio at Capannelle in Rome on Sunday.

The filly, who won a Listed race at Newmarket earlier this month, was beaten two and three-quarter lengths behind Sound Of Freedom, staying on in the final furlong under Jim Crowley after initially failing to get a clear run.

"She ran a blinder," the trainer said. "I was very happy with her and being placed in a Group 1 will help her stud career.
