Irish fans finally get their wish as Frankie delivers on promise

Ireland expected a flying dismount this week and Frankie Dettori was not going to let us down. It arrived 72 hours later than planned and 220 kilometres further north but it was worth the wait.

Crowds flocked to Killarney on Wednesday evening for the 48-year-old's first visit to the track but, for once, the Italian was unable to get what he came for. Two seconds but no winner. Instead he saved the dismount for a bigger stage.

Star Catcher was Dettori's fifth Irish Oaks and it was probably the best ride we have ever seen from him in Ireland. He got to the front, stacked them up in behind and kicked at the perfect time.
