In-form Kirby gets a tune out of Strauss to secure double

Philip Kirby has his horses in good order and saddled a 26-1 double with Iconic Belle and Richard Strauss, who were both ridden by Adam Nicol.

He started off with Iconic Belle, a four-time winner on the Flat who made a successful transition to hurdles in the mares' event.

"Her jumping was a bit messy when she was in front but otherwise she was good," the Yorkshire trainer said. "She really tried and will come on for the run. We've no plans and I'd say this was her Gold Cup."
