While Gordon Elliott's mixed week at Leopardstown took a turn for the better on Thursday, the stable continued to mop up the Graded contests at Limerick and there is every chance we will be hearing more about Duca De Thaixas the season develops.

The son of Voix Du Nord overcame greenness and the testing ground to see off his three rivals in the Grade 3 Irish Independent Hurdle.

Jonathan Moore had to keep the Gigginstown-owned four-year-old together in the straight as he was looking all around him when coming to challenge, thus keeping his more streetwise opponent Us And Them in with a puncher's chance.
