'I'm over the moon' - Gordon Elliott hits landmark double century at Perth
Sunday: Perth
Gordon Elliott recorded a landmark 200th winner at the track when Enki Flacke took the opening 2m novice hurdle.
This is the trainer's most successful course and he ended the day on 202 after Hermann Clermont took the 3m novice handicap chase and Quantum Realm's victory in the 2m4f handicap chase.
"I'm over the moon," said Elliott. "To reach 200 winners at Perth, a track that everybody at Cullentra has such a fondness for, is very special.
"We always try to have as many runners as possible for every Perth fixture and we brought a nice team over. We were hopeful one or two of them might hit the target, but to have three of the first four winners was fantastic."
All three winners were ridden by Sean Bowen and Elliott added: "Sean is a jockey I like to use when I can and I thought he gave all the horses super rides. It was a great day all round."
Not so lucky
A mistake by long-time leader Lucky Flight at the final fence was capitalised on by Miss Amelia to land the 2m Perth Silver Cup.
The nine-year-old, ridden by Tom Midgley, jumped to the front at the last and went on to record her seventh chase success for trainer Mark Walford by half a length. Lucky Flight, having looked likely to win until almost unseating Stephen Mulqueen, came home fourth.
