'I would love to get some black type' - high hopes for improving Miss Amelia
Saturday: Carlisle
Connections of Miss Amelia are targeting some black type in the near future after victory in the feature 2m handicap chase.
The nine-year old tracked the Stuart Coltherd-trained Wheelbahri, who was seeking a five-timer before quickening clear to win by three and a half lengths for trainer Mark Walford.
Assistant trainer Tim Walford said: "I think she's come good at this time of year, she likes this sort of ground. We had a couple of little hiccups with her earlier, that's why she wasn't out, but everything seems to be hunky dory now."
Tim Walford knows the family well as he trained the winner's dam, Miss Pross, who he described as being a "lunatic" and a "head-banger", and they will eventually want to breed from Miss Amelia.
"Miss Pross was a lunatic. We bought her supposedly untried, but she was well tried and a complete head-banger, but when she got over fences, dynamite.
"Miss Amelia is improving, and I would love to get some black type because we will breed from her eventually."
Willmott rides out claim
Thomas Willmott rode out his 5lb claim aboard the Sue Smith-trained outsider of four Silva Eclipse in the 3m1f handicap hurdle. It was win number 17 of the season and career win number 40 for the conditional, who, following a short grace period, will only be able to claim 3lb.
