'I was not surprised by that' - Mrs Fitzherbert takes Listed glory for Morrison

Saturday: Goodwood

Trainer Hughie Morrison admitted that he was not surprised to see 12-1 shot Mrs Fitzherbert triumph in the Listed Conqueror Fillies' Stakes.

The four-year-old, under George Rooke, finished half a length clear of Bashkirova as she registered a third win from her last four starts.

Given recent form, which included a fourth-placed finish in a Listed race at Lingfield in October, the East Ilsley handler knew another strong performance was coming.

"I was not surprised by that, I can assure you," said Morrison. "She is a talented filly, she always has been, but she is tall-legged and quite fragile really.

"I think she was unlucky at Lingfield and, interestingly, she has found more speed this year. We have now done the job of giving her black type, so she will be a welcome addition to the Airlie Stud paddock, who own and bred her."

Despite seeing more speed from his filly, Morrison is comfortable with the mile trip for the foreseeable future.

"At the end of last year we were looking at a mile and a quarter, but with the way she has been working at home we had been considering seven furlongs," he added.

"We will try and move up to a Group race somewhere, but we’ll wait until later in the summer and we will stick with a mile at the moment."

More joy for Moktasaab

Moktasaab made it back-to-back wins since joining the William Knight yard when landing the 1m2f handicap.

The four-year-old, who is owned by Harry Redknapp, was steered to victory by Callum Shepherd.
