Shades of Dawn Run as people's champion Honeysuckle gallops into history
Kenny Alexander put it better than I ever could: "I pay the bills, but these people all around us own her."
He's not wrong, Honeysuckle is ours now. We all have a leg in her, each and every one of us but, the thing is, with that sort of investment comes pressure and we are now experiencing every emotion along with Alexander. Our hearts are in our mouths at every hurdle; every stride scrutinised; every performance analysed to within an inch of its life.
This particular performance was pretty standard. It was Honeysuckle doing what Honeysuckle does these days – making fast horses look slow from the second-last to the last. The run-in is stress-free these days. The job is done by then.
