It wasn't the grandstand finish to a gripping Irish Flat jockeys' championship duel that everyone had hoped for but Colin Keane revelled in the joy of his fourth title success – while sparing a moment for his old rival and friend Billy Lee.

A valiant attempt from Lee to win his first title ended prematurely as a result of a whip ban picked up at Dundalk last month, leaving Keane in the driving seat to prevail by 92-89.

Just one winner separated the pair before Lee missed the last two days of the season, including Sunday's card at Naas, but it was still an outstanding campaign for the runner-up, who smashed his previous seasonal best tally of 57 set in 2019.
