'I don't know why she doesn't get more rides' - Ingram stars on Pallas Cat
Trainer Roger Ingram was left scratching his head at why his daughter Rhiain does not earn more rides after they combined for a satisfying victory with Cristal Pallas Cat in division two of the mile classified stakes.
The six-year-old was making his 40th start but has proved tricky for the Surrey-based trainer, often racing too keenly and pressing to the front before petering out.
Having taken advice from his daughter, Ingram hatched a plan to ride Cristal Pallas Cat more conservatively and it paid off as he finished strongly to win by three quarters of a length from Parknacilla.
"I don't know why but all of a sudden he just started settling. He's been a bit of a tearaway and likes to hit the front," Ingram said. "Rhiain said to me I'll ride him positively and if he can't get to the front I'll drop him in and ask him to go at the end. That's what she did and it was a peach of a ride."
The vast majority of Ingram's rides come for her father Roger and she enjoyed her best season with 13 winners in 2018.
Ingram said: "I don't know why she doesn't get more rides. I know every dad would probably say the same but she is pretty good. As soon as she could walk she’s been riding and she has a great feel for them."
