'I do it most years - we’ll try it again!' - Bradley lays out plan for juvenile

Nick Bradley is plotting a familiar course for The Twilight Lady after she won at the second time of asking in the opening novice stakes.

Bradley will target the Lily Agnes Stakes at Chester as the next step in her career, as he planned to do last year with Lucy Lulu, after she wore down Honour Your Dreams in the final strides under Ben Curtis for a cosier success than the short-head winning margin suggests.

Bradley said: “It was this time last year that Lucy Lulu was our first two-year-old winner, up until about 30 minutes before the race I was beginning to sweat a little bit because we hadn’t had a winner as yet, but it’s great to get the show on the road.

“This time of the year is definitely her time, she’ll go to the Lily Agnes [Chester] and then she’ll go to the Marygate [York]. It’s a similar plan, I do it most years but we’ll try it again!”

Curtis seemed to have more faith in his mount than her starting price of 14-1 suggested after riding the Roger Fell-trained filly on her debut when fifth at Musselburgh.

“She actually ran well on debut,” he said. “She completely blew the start. I never touched her with the stick, just gave her a hands-and-heels ride and she came home very well that day.

“Today she was still a little bit green. Once I pulled her out and asked her to go she quickened up nicely; it was a nice performance.”

Curtis brought up a double on the card when the Hugo Palmer-trained Rajinsky landed the 2m handicap for a second successive year, keeping on strongly to see off the persistent late challenge from Get Shirty.
