Hunter helps calm the nerves ahead of Eminent's Guineas bid

Backers of leading Qipco 2,000 Guineas fancy Eminent received an indirect boost when his lead horse Solo Hunter was a game winner of the 1m2f handicap.

The significance of the six-year-old's neck success off 86 should probably not be overplayed with regard to Saturday's big race, but as trainer Martyn Meade's son and assistant Freddie said: "When they're running well and we're having winners it helps settle the nerves."

Meade, who confirmed that Eminent is "in great form and has really pleased since the Craven" added: "We did a bad job with him when we first had him and he went up 17lb for winning only one race, as he was second to a few good ones.
