Riding a first career winner was always going to be a memorable occasion for William Humphrey, but he made it a special family affair after he produced Blue Whisper to perfection in the 1m½f handicap.

The 7lb claimer weaved his way through the field on the five-year-old in a ride that was more reminiscent of a jockey who had years of experience under his belt rather than one who was gaining a first victory on only his eighth ride.

It was also a maiden success for Blue Whisper at the 20th attempt to the delight of the trainer and jockey's mother Sarah Humphrey.
